Cavitation
If the matching of the sand suction pump unit is not reasonable, the cavitation hazard of the pump body and accessories will be very significant. During the operation of the sand suction pump, in the local area of its flow components (usually later on the impeller inlet), due to some reason, when the pressure of the pumped liquid drops to the vaporization pressure at the current temperature, the liquid begins to vaporize at that location, producing steam and forming bubbles. These bubbles flow forward with the liquid, and when they reach a certain high pressure, they rapidly shrink and even collapse. At the same time as the bubbles condense, the liquid particles adjust the filling pores and produce a strong impact on the metal surface. The metal surface experiences fatigue and peeling due to this impact, causing material loss, and in severe cases, the metal surface appears honeycomb like. Usually, cavitation occurs at the outlet of the impeller and the inlet of the pressurized water chamber.
abrasion
When the medium being transported has a certain pH value, the flow components of the sand suction pump will also undergo corrosion and wear, which is the phenomenon of material loss under the combined action of corrosion and wear. Corrosion can be divided into chemical corrosion and electrochemical corrosion. Chemical corrosion is the direct reaction between metals and liquid media, causing metal loss. Electrochemical corrosion is the formation of micro batteries on the surface of metals under the action of liquid media, resulting in material loss. Due to the fact that the actual metal materials used are polycrystalline and multiphase materials, electrochemical corrosion mainly occurs. The occurrence of corrosion, especially grain boundary corrosion, causes cracks to form between the grains on the metal surface, isolating the grains or hard phases and losing their support, resulting in detachment under the erosion of solid particles; The erosion of solid particles also causes the passivation layer on the metal surface due to corrosion to be worn off, and the contact between the liquid medium and the fresh surface of the metal increases corrosion.
